See what every meal does to your blood sugar. Before you eat it.
Snap it or say it. Get a score for the whole plate and keep your day inside a glycemic load budget. No meter needed.
Free to start · 3 scans a day
Two out of three people who use Glycemic Snap have no meter. The score is the only number they get before they eat.
Will it spike you?
Say what's on the plate or take a photo. Glycemic Snap names the foods, estimates the portions, and gives the whole meal one 0–100 glucose impact score, with GI and GL for the plate and an estimated blood sugar curve. Then it shows the swap.
- A score for the meal, not a lookup for one food
- Estimated peak time and return to baseline
- Smart swaps with the estimated drop: cauliflower rice, or brown rice at half the portion
- Photo, nutrition label, barcode, voice, or typed text

Budget glycemic load, not calories.
Targets for glycemic load, net carbs, fiber and sugar, set for your diagnosis and adjustable any time. Every meal you log counts against them, the day shows green, amber or red, and weight sits in the same diary.

Your readings, your trends, an estimated A1C.
Log finger-prick readings with a tag, see time in range and trends, and after 14 days of readings watch an estimated A1C move with your meals. On iPhone, readings your CGM writes to Apple Health come in on their own and are drawn over the day's meals.

Learn what spikes you.
Patterns from the meals you log: the breakfast staples that keep you steady, the mains that don't, and the one thing to fix next. Sugar, carbs, water and weight get the same plain-English read, so you know what to change before the next appointment.

What a GI chart won't do.
A glycemic index table was measured on one food, on its own, in a lab. Here is what changes when the app looks at your plate.
| Glycemic Snap | GI chart | |
|---|---|---|
| Scores the whole plate, not one food at a time | — | |
| Knows your portion | — | |
| Adjusts for prediabetes, insulin resistance or type 2 | — | |
| Counts the meal against a daily glycemic load budget | — | |
| Keeps weight and glucose readings next to your meals | — | |
| Suggests the swap that brings the number down | — | |
| Lists a GI number for a single food |
Also on your computer.

Questions people ask before installing
Do I need a CGM or a meter?
No. Two thirds of people using the app don't monitor their blood sugar. Glycemic Snap estimates a meal's impact from what's on the plate and your diagnosis. If you do take readings, Pro lets you log them next to your meals.
How accurate is the score?
It's an estimate, not a measurement. It uses published glycemic index data, the foods and portions the app identifies, and how they combine. Food and portion estimates can be wrong, and your own response may differ. Use it to compare meal options; use a meter or CGM to measure blood sugar.
Does it work with Dexcom or FreeStyle Libre?
On iPhone with Pro, yes, through Apple Health: CGM readings available in Apple Health are imported automatically. Your CGM setup has to be sharing readings with Health first. There is no direct connection to Dexcom or Abbott, and Android Health Connect isn't supported yet.
Is it for type 2 only?
It's built for prediabetes, insulin resistance and type 2 first, with target presets for type 1 and gestational diabetes too. Pick your situation during setup and the daily budget adjusts.
Is there a free version?
Yes. Three meal scans a day, the full diary and daily budget, and weight tracking are free. You also get 3 recipe imports. Pro is $39.99 a year or $9.99 a month on the US App Store; check your store for local pricing.
Android?
Yes, on Google Play. Apple Health sync is iPhone only.
